What’s on History tonight? Here is the full History schedule for Saturday, October 31, 2026, with times in Eastern Time (ET).

History has given Halloween night to The UnXplained

History has built its Halloween around one series. From 4pm ET to midnight, the channel shows eight consecutive episodes of The UnXplained, the non-fiction series presented by William Shatner, and the 8pm ET hour is the one to circle: The Hunt for Jack the Ripper, the third season’s twenty-first episode.

That is the pick. A series named for the unexplained takes on its best-known name, and opening primetime with it rather than burying it in the middle is the right call. Vampires and Werewolves follows at 9:02pm ET and Mysterious Mummies at 10:03pm ET, so the night moves from a historical killer to folklore to ancient tombs. Whether that order is deliberate or accidental, it works as an escalating run.

The competition is real but mostly of a different kind. At 8pm ET it faces the World Series on Fox, FBI on CBS, Halloweentown on Disney Channel and Ghostbusters: Afterlife on FX. At 9:02pm ET, Halloween II on AMC and Scary Movie 2 on Bravo are the obvious rivals. History is the one channel offering documentary instead of a horror film, which suits viewers who want the scares without the fiction.

The daytime is a different channel. History’s Greatest Mysteries fills the morning and afternoon: Who is D.B. Cooper? at 9am ET, then three Roswell episodes in a row from 10am ET. It’s a sound programme to leave on, though it airs twice today in different episodes, which is the mark of a strand rather than an event.

Overnight is the thin part: The UnBelievable with Dan Aykroyd runs four hours from 12:03am ET and CSN Mint fills 4am ET. Skip both.

For a Halloween night in, History is the safest bet on the dial for anyone who wants something to stay on all evening: no commitment and an hour at a time.
