What’s On TV Tonight, Fri, Oct 30: Jaws, Parasite & 2026 World Series

Everything worth watching on Friday, October 30, 2026, across 32 channels.

Friday night is a horror night, and TBS has the best of it

The night before Halloween, cable has handed the 8pm hour to monsters, and the one worth clearing the evening for is Jaws on TBS at 8pm ET/PT (7pm Central). It is the oldest film in the hour, from 1975, and it is the only one that doesn’t need a sequel, a reboot or a franchise to justify itself. If you watch one thing tonight, watch that.

Staying with it also fixes the rest of your night. TBS follows with Jaws 2 at 10:45pm ET, so the channel gives you a double bill if you want one. The sequel is the weaker film, and I’d treat it as optional.

What you give up at 8pm

Jaws wins a crowded hour, but the competition is real, and it splits into three kinds of viewer.

The live event. FOX has the 2026 World Series at 8pm ET (5pm PT), booked for three hours. A live game doesn’t wait for anyone, which is the one argument against recording Jaws and watching it later: you can record a movie, but you can’t record the moment. If the series matters to you, FOX is the answer and nothing else here competes with it. If it doesn’t, don’t be talked into it by the noise.

The prestige pick. Showtime has Parasite at 8pm, and it is the strongest film on the night if you want something other than horror. It is also the one that asks the most of you. It’s a different mood from everything around it, and for anyone tired of Halloween programming it’s the obvious escape. Two others sit in the same hour: HBO has The Post at 8pm, and TCM has Vincent Price: What Keeps Us Alive, a 105-minute program for anyone who wants the spooky night with some film history in it.

The family hour. Disney Channel has Toy Story of Terror at 8pm, followed by the first episode of Big City Greens’ third season at 8:30pm. It’s the safest option on the night for children, and the only part of the evening designed for them. Goosebumps on The CW at 8pm and Hocus Pocus 2 on FX at 9:10pm ET also sit on the gentler side.

The scarier second half

If you’d rather start later, 9pm is where the horror gets heavier. AMC has the original Halloween at 9pm ET for two hours, while Syfy has been running the 2018 Halloween since 8pm and follows it with Halloween Kills at 10:30pm. That means one channel can hold you from 8pm to midnight on a single franchise, and it’s the best option for a viewer who wants a marathon without touching the remote. AMC’s version is the better starting point, because it’s the one that began it all.

Two quieter choices are worth knowing about. Christine on IFC at 8:30pm is a 1983 film that rarely turns up on a Friday prime slot, and The Fly from 1958 on TCM at 9:45pm ET is a good late pick for anyone who prefers old monsters to new ones. Lake Placid on SundanceTV at 8pm and Tremors at 10pm make a pair for the creature-feature crowd.

Jurassic World: Dominion on TNT at 9pm is the one I’d skip. It’s the weakest of the big films on offer, and it asks for a lot of your Friday night.

Not interested in horror

The networks aren’t leaning in tonight. ABC has 20/20 at 9pm, NBC has Dateline NBC at 9:01pm, and CBS has Sheriff Country at 8pm followed by Fire Country at 9pm and Boston Blue at 10pm. WWE Friday Night SmackDown is on USA Network at 8pm. Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Mystery have turned to Christmas already, with Who’s Coming for Christmas? at 8pm, and Forgotten Holiday and We Need A Little Christmas both at 10pm. Food Network and HGTV are running their usual blocks, and so is Lifetime with its NCIS run from 8pm.

In short: Jaws on TBS at 8pm ET, unless there is a World Series game you care about, in which case that’s on FOX.
