TLC has one idea for Tuesday and it commits to it. 1000-lb Sisters runs at 6pm, 7pm, 8pm and 9pm ET, four hours in a row, so anyone tuning in for primetime is getting the show whichever hour they land on. The 9pm slot is the one to aim for, and it runs a minute long at 61 minutes.

That is a lot of one show. It has aired on ten days in the current window, and it airs several times today, so a viewer who has been keeping up will recognize the pattern. For anyone new to it, the series follows sisters Amy Slaton-Halterman and Tammy Slaton across three series and 28 episodes to date. A four-hour block is a fair way to catch up in a single sitting. About three quarters of all airtime went to programmes that came back on at least three different days, and the channel filled close to 24 hours a day with them, usually 22 programmes a day.

How a TLC day runs

The overnight hours belong to back-catalog series. Seeking Sister Wife sits around 4am, OutDaughtered around 5am, and on weekdays The Jennifer Hudson Show takes 6am, the one fixture on the channel that never moved from its slot. After that the day is built in blocks: a run of My Strange Addiction in the late morning, My 600-lb Life around noon, Dr. Pimple Popper in the early afternoon, then Sister Wives taking over around 3pm.

Late afternoon is where the big franchises start stacking up. 1000-lb Roomies typically shows up around 5pm, followed by 1000-lb Sisters and 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way around 6pm. These are not single episodes. 1000-lb Roomies aired 35 times over 11 days, and The Other Way 38 times over 10 days, which tells you the channel is running them three or four at a time.
