The Real Housewives of New York City takes nearly all of Bravo’s primetime and late schedule, and the only episode that matters comes first. Havana Fights, season 16 episode 8, starts at 8pm ET and runs 75 minutes, a long slot that suggests the channel wants this one to feel like an event. It also has to survive Dancing with the Stars, NCIS and the World Series on Fox all starting at the same time, so Bravo’s audience is the loyal one.

After that, the night changes character. Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen fills a half hour at 9:15pm ET with season 23 episode 174, and then the channel goes back in time. Housewives Overboard at 9:45pm ET is season 3 episode 11. Sun, Sand and Psychosis follows at 10:45pm ET, and ShunBurn at 11:45pm ET closes it out, both from the third season too. So the evening is one current-season hour followed by three older instalments, and anyone who wants the current story should stop at the talk show.

Those season 3 episodes are the lesser reason to stay up. They are not scheduled against much, though the 10:45pm slot runs into Wonder Woman 1984 on TNT, which is the only real competition for a late viewer.

Away from the franchise, Vanderpump Rules: Lisa Las Vegas fills the small hours three times in a row from 12:30am ET, and Below Deck sits at 4am and 5am ET. The same Housewives run through the daytime, with season 3 from 6am to 3pm and season 16 from 4pm to 8pm, so the channel has effectively scheduled the whole franchise end to end across the day.

Bravo is a reality channel, almost without exception. Reality shows took 92% of its airtime in the two weeks we tracked, and the talk show that fills most of the rest, Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, exists largely to talk about those same reality shows. Five different Real Housewives cities aired in the window: New York City, Orange County, Potomac, Salt Lake City and Rhode Island. Between them they ran more than 150 times.

The other defining habit is the marathon. Bravo rarely airs one episode of anything. Vanderpump Rules turned up on only four days in the window, yet aired 37 times, which works out to roughly nine episodes back to back each time. The Real Housewives of Rhode Island managed 14 airings in two days. When Bravo commits to a show for an afternoon, it commits to the whole afternoon.

What its day looks like

A Bravo day is around 24 programmes, mostly hour-long episodes, and 86% of the airtime goes to titles that come back on three or more days. The schedule moves a great deal from one day to the next, so it is more useful to know the shape than the exact slot.

Overnight and early morning belong to Below Deck, the channel’s most frequent title: 70 airings across twelve of fifteen days, typically in the hours after midnight and around 4am ET.
