MovieWhat’s on FX tonight? Here is the full FX schedule for Tuesday, October 27, 2026, with times in Eastern Time (ET).
FX has one reason to be on at 9pm, and the rest of the night is a movie marathon
The only original programming FX has in primetime tonight is The Drop: A Snowfall Saga at 9pm ET/PT (8pm Central), and it is the one slot on the channel where it is not simply filling hours with a film library. Everything around it is a movie, which makes the 75-minute slot the clearest decision of the evening.
The Drop is the night’s real choice
The Drop: A Snowfall Saga is an American drama series that came out of FX, built on Snowfall. It has one season and eight episodes to date, and its cast includes Gail Bean, Asante Blackk and Peyton Alex Smith. It airs at 9pm, a slot where it faces a crowded field: NCIS: New York on CBS, Family Guy on Comedy Central, Road Wars on A&E, Beetlejuice on Freeform and a lot more besides. Our rating is 4 stars, and it is the pick.
It also runs only 75 minutes, which is short enough to finish and still be done by 10:15pm, when the channel moves on to Captain Marvel.
Captain Marvel at 10:15pm
Captain Marvel (2019) is the late slot, 150 minutes, directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, with Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson and Jude Law in the cast. It starts at 10:15pm ET/PT (9:15pm Central) and ends at 12:45am ET. The two things it faces are The Pet Cemetery Murders: A Ghost Story on HBO and I Married a Witch on TCM, neither of which is chasing the same audience. I would call it a decent 3 stars, the kind of movie that fills a Tuesday late night without needing much from the viewer.
The daytime Marvel run
FX has built its afternoon around superheroes. Venom runs at 11am, Venom: Let There Be Carnage at 1pm and Spider-Man: No Way Home at 3pm, with Tom Hardy leading the first two and Tom Holland the third. All three were on in the window yesterday, so anyone who saw them on Monday is looking at a straight repeat of the line-up. If you have to choose one, No Way Home at 3pm is the pick of the three: it runs 180 minutes, the longest film in the afternoon, and the one with the most to see.
The early-evening bridge
Independence Day (1996) opens the evening at 6pm ET/PT and runs three hours, finishing at 9pm, just as The Drop starts. That is neat scheduling: the 6pm movie hands over to the 9pm series without a gap. Roland Emmerich directed it, with Will Smith, Jeff Goldblum and Mary McDonnell in the cast. It earns 4 stars, and anyone who wants a full evening on FX can start there and stay through the whole night.
The overnight and the morning
The night owls get Signs at 1:20am, a 150-minute alien-invasion thriller from M. Night Shyamalan with Mel Gibson and Joaquin Phoenix. It has played four times in the window, so it is a familiar late-night visitor. The early morning is paid programming, and Umma at 7am and Barbarian at 9am take the horror slot before the superhero run begins.
The plan
If you want one thing from FX tonight, it is The Drop at 9pm. If you want a movie, Independence Day at 6pm is the best of the day, and Captain Marvel is the one to leave running if the night goes long.

Frequently asked questions
What’s on FX tonight?
On Tuesday, October 27, 2026, FX shows The Drop: A Snowfall Saga at 9pm ET and Captain Marvel at 10:15pm ET.
Is there a movie on FX tonight?
Yes: Independence Day (1996) at 6pm ET, The Drop: A Snowfall Saga (2026) at 9pm ET and Captain Marvel (2019) at 10:15pm ET.
What time does FX’s evening start?
The evening schedule starts with Independence Day at 6pm ET.
FX is a blockbuster film channel with three nights of its own series
FX spends most of its day showing big studio films and saves its weeknight 9pm slot for its own shows. Across the two weeks we tracked, films took 91% of FX’s airtime, about 25 a week, and on weekends the figure was 100%: not a single series episode aired on a Saturday or Sunday. The films are not random. FX programs in franchises, and a whole day will often belong to one of them.
The window fell in October, so a seasonal streak ran through it: Ghostbusters in every version, Hocus Pocus, The Sixth Sense, Signs and American Horror Story. But the spine of the schedule was Star Wars, Pirates of the Caribbean, Planet of the Apes and Marvel, which is a better guide to the channel the rest of the year.
What its day looks like
FX’s mornings start late. From about 4am to 7am ET most days the channel runs paid programming and infomercials; Paid Program aired on fourteen of the fifteen days, 55 times in all. A few short fillers and early-hours reruns of According to Jim sit around that block.
At 7am the films begin, and they run back to back until the small hours, usually in slots of two and a half to three hours. This is where the franchise days happen. One Friday ran all six of the first Star Wars episodes in order, from The Phantom Menace at 7am to Return of the Jedi at 10:10pm ET. The following Saturday did five Pirates of the Caribbean films from 9:30am. A Sunday went Captain Marvel, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame. Planet of the Apes and Ghostbusters each got their own runs, and Ghostbusters: Answer the Call aired four times.
Weeknight primetime is where FX’s own series live, all at 9pm ET:
- Tuesdays: The Drop: A Snowfall Saga, one episode at 9pm, then a film from 10pm.
- Wednesdays: The Lowdown at 9pm, sometimes with a second episode straight after.
- Thursdays: American Horror Story, two episodes back to back from 9pm.
Mondays and Fridays stayed with films in the window, though It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia took the 9pm slot once. On a film night, primetime usually means one feature starting between 6pm and 8pm and running past 9, then a second starting around 10pm or later. Start times wander because the films are long: 7:40pm, 9:32pm, 10:38pm and 10:40pm all appeared. The late film normally finishes after 1am, and the next one begins straight away.
Popular shows on FX
American Horror Story is an anthology horror series that began in 2011 and has run for 13 seasons and 132 episodes. Its casts have included Connie Britton, Dylan McDermott, Evan Peters and Taissa Farmiga. In the window it held Thursdays at 9pm ET with two episodes a night.
The Lowdown is a black comedy series that began in 2025, starring Ethan Hawke, with Tim Blake Nelson, Jeanne Tripplehorn and Ryan Kiera Armstrong in the cast. It was FX’s Wednesday 9pm ET show across the two weeks.
The Drop: A Snowfall Saga is a drama series from 2026, with Gail Bean, Asante Blackk and Peyton Alex Smith in the cast. Its first season runs to eight episodes, and it held Tuesday at 9pm ET.
It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia is a sitcom that began in 2005 and has reached 17 seasons and 178 episodes, with Charlie Day, Glenn Howerton, Rob McElhenney, Kaitlin Olson and Danny DeVito. It made one primetime appearance in the window, on a Monday at 9pm ET.
Ghostbusters is the 1984 comedy that FX treats as a franchise in its own right. Ghostbusters II (1989, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Sigourney Weaver) aired four times, and Answer the Call (2016), Afterlife (2021) and Frozen Empire (2024) all ran in the same fortnight, and one Friday ran four Ghostbusters films in a row from 3pm ET.
How to watch FX
FX is a cable channel, so there is no free over-the-air signal to pick up with an antenna. The live channel is carried by YouTube TV, Hulu + Live TV, Sling TV, Fubo and DirecTV Stream. For catching up, FX series stream on Hulu the day after they air, and on Disney+ through Hulu on Disney+. FX no longer has a separate app of its own, so Hulu is the place to look for its shows on demand, and some FX series premiere directly there.
Channels like FX
- AMC is the closest match in shape: around 26 films a week, franchise days and a single scripted series in primetime, though in October it is almost entirely horror.
- Paramount Network puts films in every primetime slot, with the Ocean’s trilogy and Jack Reacher among its regulars, after a daytime of reality shows.
- TNT gives most of its evenings to big films too, from Godzilla vs. Kong to The Lord of the Rings.
- Showtime is a film channel first, with about 30 a week in the window and almost no series.
- Syfy shares FX’s Ghostbusters habit and adds a heavier dose of horror films in the run-up to Halloween.
Who it’s for
FX suits anyone happy to fall into a franchise for a whole afternoon, or to put on the Star Wars films in order without owning them. It also suits viewers who follow one or two FX series and want them on a fixed weeknight at 9pm, though Hulu has them the next day anyway. If the aim is a broad mix of series, or anything at all before 7am, FX is the wrong channel: its schedule is films, three nights of its own shows and infomercials.
Does FX show movies?
Almost all the time. Films took 91% of FX’s airtime across the two weeks we tracked, about 25 a week, and every hour on weekends.
What’s on FX most nights?
On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, an FX series at 9pm ET (The Drop: A Snowfall Saga, The Lowdown and American Horror Story in the window), with a film either side. Other nights it is films all evening.
How can I watch FX without cable?
On a live TV streaming service that carries it: YouTube TV, Hulu + Live TV, Sling TV, Fubo or DirecTV Stream. FX series are on Hulu the next day.
What time does primetime start on FX?
Its series start at 9pm ET, but on film nights the evening’s first feature often begins between 6pm and 8pm and runs into primetime.
FX full schedule
All times are Eastern (ET). Central: subtract an hour. Pacific and Mountain: most network shows air at the same clock time, but live sport and live events start earlier (8pm ET is 5pm PT). Local stations sometimes swap in news or local games.
