How to watch the NBA on TV in the US

Like hockey, the NBA splits its games between national TV and local TV. A national game is on everywhere in the country. Every other game, which is most of the schedule, is on a channel in the two teams’ own areas, and someone in another state won’t get it.

The 2026-27 season is the second under the NBA’s current national deals, which share the games between three partners. ESPN and ABC have the biggest weekend games, including a ten-game Saturday slate and a six-game Sunday schedule on ABC. NBC shows its games on NBC and Peacock, including 16 Sunday games on NBC. Prime Video streams its games with no TV channel at all. Between them they have 247 games from October 20 to April 11, and NBA TV, the league’s own channel, shows another 60.

Local channels are a mix. Some teams are on regional sports networks, some have moved to free local stations, and many also sell their games on their own streaming apps. The local column names the TV channel where one is listed; “Team channels” means the game is on the teams’ local outlets, which vary by area.

Check the national column first: a game listed there can be watched anywhere in the US. “Streaming only” means the game is on Prime Video or Peacock and on no TV channel, so you need that service. When the national column says “None”, the game is on the two teams’ local channels only.

Times are Eastern. In the Central time zone, take an hour off; on the West Coast, take three, which is why so many West Coast home games tip off at 10pm ET or later. The page is rebuilt every afternoon, so if you’re reading in the morning, the table for tomorrow is the one for tonight.
