MovieWhat’s on Syfy tonight? Here is the full Syfy schedule for Tuesday, October 27, 2026, with times in Eastern Time (ET).
Syfy goes action-heavy in primetime, and the best movie of the day is on before it starts
Syfy’s primetime tonight is built from Nicolas Cage films, not science fiction, and the best of the three is The Rock at 5pm ET/PT, ahead of the primetime pair. Michael Bay’s 1996 film runs 180 minutes, stars Sean Connery, Nicolas Cage and Ed Harris, and finishes at 8pm just as Gone in 60 Seconds begins. It is our 4-star pick.
The primetime pair
Gone in 60 Seconds (2000) starts at 8pm ET/PT (7pm Central) and runs 150 minutes. Dominic Sena directed it, with Nicolas Cage, Giovanni Ribisi and Delroy Lindo. It is the weaker of the evening’s two Cage movies, and gets 3 stars. It is also up against Dancing with the Stars on ABC, The Real Housewives of New York City on Bravo and NCIS on CBS, so it is a hard sell to anyone with a live favorite. It will air again on October 28.
Con Air (1997) follows at 10:30pm ET/PT and runs 150 minutes, directed by Simon West, with Nicolas Cage, John Cusack, John Malkovich, Steve Buscemi and Ving Rhames. It is the better movie of the pair, a 4-star finish to the night, and the late slot is the one to stay up for. It ends at 1am ET, which is a long Tuesday.
The horror daytime
Syfy has filled the morning and afternoon with horror. Fright Night (2011) opens at 8:30am, Night Terror follows at 11am and Night Swim gets two showings, at 1am and again at 1pm. The Possession closes the afternoon at 3pm. Night Swim (2024) has the only double airing on the day, and it is the least compelling of the lot, so a 2-star rating is fair. Fright Night, with Anton Yelchin, Colin Farrell and David Tennant, is the best of the horror block.
Twilight Zone overnight
The Twilight Zone is on from 3am to 8:30am, a long run of classic episodes covering several seasons. It is a daily fixture, so it is background for early risers and insomniacs rather than a tonight decision. The series ran from 1959 to 1964 on CBS, with 156 episodes in all.

On Tuesday, October 27, 2026, Syfy shows Gone in 60 Seconds at 8pm ET and Con Air at 10:30pm ET.
Is there a movie on Syfy tonight?

What time does Syfy’s evening start?
The evening schedule starts with Gone in 60 Seconds at 8pm ET.
Syfy is The Twilight Zone until breakfast and films after it
Syfy’s schedule splits cleanly in two. From the early hours until mid-morning it runs The Twilight Zone, episode after episode. From mid-morning until the small hours it runs films. Across the two weeks we tracked, The Twilight Zone aired on fourteen of the fifteen days and 148 times in total, and films took 96% of primetime.
The films in the window were heavily seasonal. In the run-up to Halloween, Syfy’s movie slots turn almost entirely to horror, from the Halloween and Texas Chainsaw franchises to exorcism and haunted-house pictures, with a run of horror comedies on top. That is the October channel. The Twilight Zone block, and the habit of filling the day with films, are the parts most likely to look the same in any month.
What its day looks like
On a typical weekday, Syfy’s day goes like this:
- Around 2am to 9am ET: The Twilight Zone, half-hour episodes back to back, often a dozen or more in a row.
- 9am or 10am to about 5pm: three or four films, usually in two-hour slots.
- 5pm to 7:30pm: another film, often one of the season’s headline titles.
- 7pm to 11pm: two films, one starting at 7pm or 7:30pm and the next at 9:30pm or 10pm.
- Midnight to 2am: a late film, or a repeat of The Ark.
The weekend shape is similar, with The Twilight Zone a little shorter in the morning and films starting at 8am. Paid programming is a smaller part of the day here than on most cable channels: it showed up on only four of the fifteen days, usually as a short block around 4am, with The Twilight Zone filling hours that other channels give to infomercials.
The Ark, a science fiction drama series, is Syfy’s only other regular. It aired eight times on seven days, mostly around midnight, and took the 10pm ET slot once. Otherwise, primetime is films. Syfy likes to pair them: Blade and Blade II on a Saturday, Blade II and Blade: Trinity the following night, Halloween and Halloween II on a Tuesday, Scary Movie and Scary Movie 2 on a Sunday, then Halloween and Halloween Kills on a Wednesday.
Weekends lean slightly toward lighter material. One Saturday ran the original Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II twice each before Answer the Call at 8pm ET, and the next day added Freaky, Scary Movie and Pixels.
The repeat count
Syfy shows a lot of films, about 33 a week across the window, but leans on a short list. The 2007 Halloween aired six times. Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation aired five times. The Last Voyage of the Demeter, Five Nights at Freddy’s, Lisa Frankenstein, Renfield, The Silent House, Come Play, The Last Exorcism and the 2009 Halloween II each aired four times. A film that plays at 1pm one day is likely to turn up at 7:30pm or midnight a few days later.
Popular shows on Syfy
The Twilight Zone is the anthology series that began in 1959 and ran for five seasons and 156 episodes, with Rod Serling, mixing fantasy, science fiction and horror. It is Syfy’s backbone, filling most of the hours between 2am and 9am ET.
Halloween on Syfy means the 2007 version, a slasher directed by Rob Zombie with Malcolm McDowell, Sheri Moon Zombie, Tyler Mane and Scout Taylor-Compton. It was the channel’s most-aired film in the window, and its 2009 sequel and 2021’s Halloween Kills ran alongside it.
Blade II is the 2002 vampire action film directed by Guillermo del Toro, starring Wesley Snipes, Kris Kristofferson and Ron Perlman. Syfy ran the Blade trilogy across consecutive evenings in primetime.
Five Nights at Freddy’s is a 2023 horror mystery directed by Emma Tammi, starring Josh Hutcherson, Elizabeth Lail, Mary Stuart Masterson and Matthew Lillard. It aired four times, once in the 10pm ET slot.
Renfield is a 2023 vampire comedy horror directed by Chris McKay, with Nicholas Hoult, Nicolas Cage and Awkwafina. Like Lisa Frankenstein (2024), it is part of the lighter streak Syfy runs between the slashers.
How to watch Syfy
Syfy is a cable channel, so it is not available free over the air with an antenna. The live channel is carried by YouTube TV, Hulu + Live TV, Sling TV and DirecTV Stream, and it has its own app, the SYFY app. Two gaps are worth knowing about: Syfy’s shows are no longer on Peacock, and Fubo does not carry the channel.
Channels like Syfy
- AMC runs the most similar October: horror films around the clock, franchise days and heavy repeats, with almost no series.
- IFC puts Chucky films and A Nightmare on Elm Street into its season, between long blocks of sitcom reruns, much as Syfy uses The Twilight Zone.
- FX shares Syfy’s Ghostbusters habit and its film-heavy days, with more blockbusters and fewer slashers.
- Sundance TV mixes old reruns with horror and monster films, including A Nightmare on Elm Street and Abbott and Costello Meet the Mummy.
Who it’s for
Syfy is for two kinds of viewer. One is the early riser or night owl who wants The Twilight Zone on, which the channel provides at a volume few others match. The other is the horror fan who wants a recent studio film, rather than a 1980s classic, on in the evening: Syfy’s October list runs more to the last fifteen years than AMC’s does. Anyone looking for new science fiction series will find little: in the window, The Ark was the only one.
Does Syfy show movies?
Yes. Films filled 96% of Syfy’s primetime across the two weeks we tracked, about 33 a week, and in the run-up to Halloween nearly all of them were horror or horror comedy.
When is The Twilight Zone on Syfy?
Most days from around 2am to 9am ET, in long back-to-back runs. It aired 148 times in the fifteen days we measured.
How can I watch Syfy without cable?
Through YouTube TV, Hulu + Live TV, Sling TV or DirecTV Stream, all of which carry the live channel. Fubo does not, and Syfy’s shows are no longer on Peacock.
What time does primetime start on Syfy?
Officially 8pm ET, but Syfy’s first evening film usually starts at 7pm or 7:30pm, with a second at 9:30pm or 10pm.
Syfy full schedule
All times are Eastern (ET). Central: subtract an hour. Pacific and Mountain: most network shows air at the same clock time, but live sport and live events start earlier (8pm ET is 5pm PT). Local stations sometimes swap in news or local games.
