How voting and scoring work

Each judge scores every dance out of 10, so a couple can score up to 30 a dance, or 40 in a week with a guest judge. The judges’ scores are combined with the viewers’ votes from the live show, and the couple with the lowest combined total goes home.

You can vote online at dwtsvote.abc.com or by text to 21523, with up to 10 votes per couple by each method. Voting opens at 8pm ET when the live show starts and closes shortly after the final dance. Votes made after the show, including during the West Coast broadcast, don’t count.
