Tuesday on Hallmark Mystery is twelve two-hour Christmas movies in a row, and the evening splits neatly in two: A Bride for Christmas at 8pm ET/PT (7pm Central), then Window Wonderland at 10pm ET/PT (9pm Central). Pick the first if you have to pick one, and stay for the second if you are not ready to turn off.

A Bride for Christmas is a 2012 television movie directed by Gary Yates, with Arielle Kebbel in the cast. It is the older of the two, and it gets the more contested slot, in the hour when every other network is putting out its biggest show. Dancing with the Stars, NCIS and The Real Housewives of New York City are all against it, which makes this a choice about mood more than quality. Three stars, and a decent one if you want something undemanding.

Window Wonderland, from 2013 and directed by Michael Scott, has the more interesting cast on paper: Chyler Leigh, Paul Campbell, Naomi Judd and Cameron Mathison, with Terence Kelly alongside. At 10pm ET it shares the hour with Hallmark Channel’s The More the Merrier, so the two sister channels are splitting their own audience. That is a scheduling quirk worth knowing if you flip between them.

Earlier in the day, the best slot for a drop-in is noon ET, where Check Inn to Christmas, a 2019 movie directed by Sam Irvin, stars Rachel Boston and Wes Brown. It is the kind of lunchtime movie you can have on without committing to the afternoon.

The structure is the point here. Nothing on this channel today runs longer or shorter than two hours, so each movie starts on the even hour, with no gaps and no series to track. For the night, 8pm ET is the start and 10pm ET is the second helping.

Hallmark Mystery runs on Murder, She Wrote until Christmas takes over

For half of the two weeks we tracked, Hallmark Mystery ran one of the most single-minded schedules we measured. Murder, She Wrote ran from 10pm ET to 8am, Diagnosis Murder from 8am to 1pm, Matlock from 1pm to 6pm, and two cozy mystery TV movies filled the evening. Then, in the middle of October, the whole schedule switched to Christmas films around the clock, and every one of those detectives disappeared.

So there are two Hallmark Mysteries. The mystery one is the channel’s name and its year-round identity on the evidence of the first week. The Christmas one arrives in mid-October and, while it lasts, makes this channel almost indistinguishable from Hallmark Channel. Anyone choosing between them in the holiday season is choosing between two lists of Christmas films.

What its day looks like

In mystery mode, a weekday is three long reruns and two films:

  • 10pm to 8am ET: Murder, She Wrote, ten hour-long episodes back to back.
  • 8am to 1pm: Diagnosis Murder, five episodes.
  • 1pm to 6pm: Matlock, five episodes.
  • 6pm and 8pm: two mystery TV movies, often from the same franchise.
  • 10pm: Murder, She Wrote begins again.

Murder, She Wrote aired 60 times on seven days, and on six of them it started at exactly 10pm ET. Diagnosis Murder and Matlock each ran 20 times. On weekdays the 6pm and 8pm films in the window were Hannah Swensen mysteries, including the 2026 titles Sugar & Vice and Best Served Cold, with a Garage Sale Mysteries film taking one 8pm slot.

Weekends are built from franchise marathons instead of reruns. One Saturday ran three Morning Show Mysteries films from 10am, then three Picture Perfect Mysteries films through to 10pm. The Sunday ran five Murder, She Baked films in a row from 10am before a 2026 premiere, Haunted Harmony Mysteries: Prelude to a Wedding, at 8pm ET. Across the window, films took 70% of weekend airtime against 43% on weekdays.

In Christmas mode, the clock is simple: a two-hour film on every even hour, twelve a day, all Christmas. Over the whole window Hallmark Mystery averaged about ten films a week, but that average hides two very different regimes. The 8pm ET slot keeps its job as the evening’s main event, with titles such as A Godwink Christmas: Miracle of Love and A Very Vermont Christmas there in the window, and a second film at 10pm. Very few Christmas titles repeated: Return to Christmas Creek, with two airings, was the exception.
