What’s on AMC tonight? Here is the full AMC schedule for Friday, October 30, 2026, with times in Eastern Time (ET).

AMC turns Friday into a Halloween film festival, and 9pm ET is the slot to keep

AMC has cleared almost its entire day for one franchise the day before Halloween, and the best way to use it is to ignore the marathon and show up for one showing. The 1978 original airs at 9pm ET/PT (8pm Central), in the one primetime slot the channel has, and it is the film the other seven hours of horror are leaning on. Five stars, and an easy pick.

The original is a strange thing to see this often. The 1978 Halloween, directed by John Carpenter, with Donald Pleasence and Jamie Lee Curtis in the cast, turns up three times today: 4:30am, 1pm and 9pm ET. Anyone who can only manage one should take the evening airing. It runs two hours, it has the whole night’s attention, and it starts at the same moment as Fire Country on CBS and Hocus Pocus 2 on FX, so it is also the clear choice if the household wants something frightening rather than festive.

The real scheduling story is the franchise sprawl around it. From 6:30am to 7pm AMC walks through sequels in a rough but not strict order. Halloween II (2009), Rob Zombie’s version with Malcolm McDowell, goes out at 8:30am and runs two and a half hours. The 1981 Halloween II follows at 3pm. Halloween III: Season of the Witch (1982) sits at 11am, and it is the odd entry for a reason you can see on the page: horror and science fiction rather than the slasher tag the other sequels carry. If you want to sample one thing off the main road, it is the one worth the two hours.

Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers lands at 5pm and Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers gets two goes, at 6:30am and again at 7pm. I’d give the second airing a pass unless you are working through the series in order, because the 7pm showing is the lead-in to the main event and not a good use of the hour. Two stars for the fifth film as a night’s viewing, three for the fourth.

The tail of the night is where the channel gets greedy. The 2007 Halloween follows the original at 11pm and runs 150 minutes, so it finishes at 1:30am ET. If you have just watched the 1978 film it makes a reasonable chaser. It is a harder sell as a stand-alone, so three stars.

Before all of that, the overnight is a quieter affair: Child’s Play (1988) at 1am, then two Tales from the Crypt episodes at 3am and 3:45am. Tales from the Crypt turns up twice today and eight days in the week-long window, so it works as filler rather than a feature. The overnight is for people who are awake anyway.

Where AMC loses ground is variety. Eleven films, seven distinct titles, and a lot of Michael Myers. If the evening needs to include anyone who does not want to see him a fourth time, FX has Hocus Pocus 2 at 9:10pm ET, and the rest of the week’s movies are on the movies on TV this week page.
