USA Network is not changing a thing for October 31. Primetime is three hours of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, a series with 28 series and 594 episodes to date, and the rest of the day is sport and Chicago Fire.

The pick is the 8pm ET episode, Vulnerable, from season four. It’s a fair choice because the 9pm ET and 10pm ET episodes, Disappearing Acts and Waste, are also season four, so the night is a mini-run of the early years. The same episode, Vulnerable, also airs at 12:03am ET, so anyone who misses it has a second chance. Against Fox’s 2026 World Series, FBI on CBS and Halloweentown on Disney Channel, SVU is the dependable option for viewers who want crime and no costumes.

The day before primetime is the more interesting part. Chicago Fire runs from 2am ET to 8am ET, and the 6am ET episode is Rattle Second City, the opener of the ninth season. It’s worth knowing the series has 15 series and 295 episodes to date, so a season opener is a good jumping-in point, if you are happy to jump in at breakfast time.

Sport takes up the middle. The Premier League has two live windows, at 8:30am ET and 11am ET, each with a Mornings show around it. The Breeders’ Cup 2026 follows at 1pm ET for two and a half hours, then college football from 3:30pm ET. The late slot is College Football again at 11pm ET, a 270-minute block that carries USA past the end of the SVU run and into the small hours. Live events air at one moment nationwide, so those times apply on the West Coast as 5:30am PT for the first match and 8pm PT for the late game.

The honest verdict: sport during the day, SVU at night, and nothing here for anyone who wants Halloween on the screen.
