If you want the strongest scripted thing on TNT today, it airs at 3:15pm ET (12:15pm PT), not in primetime. The Batman runs 225 minutes, long enough to eat the entire afternoon, and it is a proper blockbuster with Robert Pattinson in the title role, Matt Reeves directing and Zoë Kravitz, Jeffrey Wright, Andy Serkis and Colin Farrell around him. It is the one piece of programming here that rewards an uninterrupted sit.

The evening is a different proposition. The CBB Hall of Fame Series takes over: a pregame at 7pm ET (4pm PT), the first game at 7:30pm ET (4:30pm PT), a studio show at 9:30pm ET (6:30pm PT), then a second game at 10pm ET (7pm PT). That is a five-hour block of basketball with nothing else in it. If it is your sport, the structure is generous, because the studio show sits exactly between the two tips and gives you a half hour to reset. If it is not, TNT has nothing for you after the afternoon.

Against the second game, the choice is wide. Shark Tank is on ABC, Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on Bravo, Beat Bobby Flay on Food Network and The Office on Comedy Central. A live game has to be unusually good to beat that field, so the pull here is loyalty to the matchup rather than the slot.

The rest of the day is catalog filler. Charmed fills the early hours, eight episodes in a row from 3am to 11am ET, before Cold Case takes the late morning and noon. Meg 2: The Trench follows at 1pm ET and is the lighter way to pass a Monday lunch. Blended closes the schedule at midnight ET, 150 minutes of Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore, which is a long way to go for a comedy that late.

Verdict: stay for The Batman, check the game times if basketball is the draw, and skip the rest.
