TNT has built Halloween Saturday around a single film and run it on either side of primetime. Beetlejuice Beetlejuice airs at 5:45pm ET and again at 10pm ET, and the 10pm slot is the one to circle. It is a 2024 film directed by Tim Burton, with Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, Catherine O’Hara and Jenna Ortega in the cast, and a black comedy that suits the night better than anything else TNT has scheduled. Four stars, and the pick.

The two-hour gap between the showings belongs to All Elite Wrestling: Collision at 8pm ET. That is a real choice on a night when most people have somewhere to be, and TNT is betting its wrestling audience will stay put. It is also the only thing on the channel that is not a movie, a rerun or college football, so it carries a rating of three stars as a piece of programming rather than as a Halloween event. If you want the film from the top without a long evening in front of it, the 5:45pm showing finishes at 8pm sharp, just as Collision begins.

The early hours and breakfast are given over to FBI, which has aired on TNT on eight days of the past two weeks. That repetition is the reason the channel needs a Halloween event at all.

Tonight’s real competition at 8pm ET is a crowded field that includes the World Series on Fox, Halloweentown on Disney Channel and Ghostbusters: Afterlife on FX. At 10pm ET, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice faces 48 Hours on CBS and Halloween Baking Championship on Food Network, a much easier slot to win.
