From 2pm ET, TNT runs four movies with no gap between them, and the last one, The Batman at 10:15pm ET, is the only one that justifies the stamina. It is the longest thing on the channel all day at 225 minutes, which means it won’t finish until nearly 2am ET. Start it fresh at 10:15pm and it’s a late night; if you can only commit to one film today, this is it.

Matt Reeves directed it in 2022, with Robert Pattinson in the lead and Zoë Kravitz, Jeffrey Wright, Andy Serkis and Colin Farrell around him. It’s a long film that treats its length as a feature, and the late slot suits it better than a mid-afternoon placement would. The only real competition is Mysteries Unearthed with Danny Trejo, a history show starting at the same moment, so the choice is simple.

The Joker double bill is a split verdict

Joker (2019) opens the run at 2pm ET and is the stronger half of the pairing. Todd Phillips directed both films, and the first one is a self-contained piece you can drop into on a weekday afternoon without any homework. It runs 165 minutes and gets four stars from me.

Joker: Folie à Deux follows at 4:45pm ET, also 165 minutes. A sequel scheduled directly behind its predecessor invites the comparison, and the sequel loses it. Two stars. If you only have time for one of the pair, the 2pm start is the better use of an afternoon.

Primetime starts mid-film

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, the fifth Jurassic Park film, begins at 7:30pm ET. That means the 8pm ET primetime hour opens with the movie already half an hour in, so anyone tuning in at 8 joins late. It’s a sound popcorn option, three stars, and it has aired on five days in the current window, so it is something TNT leans on rather than a fresh booking.

Stay with it until it ends at 10:15pm ET and The Batman picks up at once, which makes the night a one-way trip rather than a menu.

The rest of the day

The overnight hours belong to Cold Case, five hours of it from 1am ET, and the morning goes to FBI, eight episodes in a row from 6am ET. Both are filler for the movie block. The movies are the schedule.
