Syfy goes all in on Halloween, and the 5:30pm film sets up the rest

Syfy runs five Halloween films from 12:30pm to the end of the night, and the stretch to watch starts at 5:30pm ET/PT (4:30pm Central) with the 2018 Halloween. It is the only one of the five from that year, and it hands over to Halloween Kills at 8pm, so it makes the best way into the evening.

Halloween Kills, the 2021 film directed by David Gordon Green, brings back Jamie Lee Curtis alongside Anthony Michael Hall, James Jude Courtney, Nick Castle and Judy Greer. It starts at 8pm, the same minute as Fox’s 2026 World Series and FX’s Ghostbusters: Afterlife. The World Series is live, so baseball will take part of the audience. Among the movies, though, the choice is simple: horror on Syfy, comedy on FX, Halloweentown on Disney Channel. Three stars. It’s the centerpiece of the night, and the only airing it gets today.

At 10:30pm, Syfy returns to the Rob Zombie version: the 2007 Halloween, with Malcolm McDowell, Sheri Moon Zombie and Scout Taylor-Compton. It already aired at 12:30pm, so this is a second pass, and the competition is Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire on FX. If you’re still up and want it darker, this is the slot. If you’ve seen the afternoon showing, you’ll know whether you want the night version too.

Earlier, Halloween II (2009, also Zombie’s) runs at 3pm, and The Exorcist: Believer, a 2023 film by David Gordon Green with Leslie Odom Jr. and Ellen Burstyn, airs at 1am and again at 10am. The Hills Have Eyes 2 follows at 8am for the committed. Overnight, The Twilight Zone fills the dark hours in half-hour episodes, which is a good way to end a Halloween if the big films have worn you out.
