It is November 2 and Hallmark Channel has not left a single hour of the day to anything but Christmas. Eleven films run back to back from midnight, each given a two-hour slot, and a Grand Ole Opry special closes the night. If you want a flexible evening, this is not it: the schedule is a conveyor belt, and the only real decision is where to step on.

Step on at 8pm ET/PT (7pm Central) with A Dream of Christmas. It is the longest thing in primetime and the best bet for anyone who wants a proper sit-down. It is a 2016 film, filed under comedy, drama, family and fantasy, so it has more going on than the usual single-lane romance. It also aired on October 22, so regulars may have seen it already. For a first-timer, it is a sensible way in. Three stars.

The opposition is thin on the same appeal. Dancing with the Stars is on ABC, FBI on CBS and Holiday Baking Championship on Food Network, so the one genuine rival for a Christmas mood is the baking show. If you want cookies and tinsel without a love story, that is your alternative.

The surprise is at 6pm ET/PT (5pm Central). A Danish Christmas is a 2026 film, the newest title on the day’s list, and Hallmark gave it a slot on both November 1 and today. A channel that shows a new film two nights in a row is telling you which ones it wants watched. Three stars, mostly for being the freshest option on the page.

Then there is the 10pm ET/PT (9pm Central) slot. A Grand Ole Opry Christmas is the only entry that is not a film, and it is also a repeat of sorts, having aired on October 22. It is a cooler way to end a night that has been all snow and engagements, and it takes on Shark Tank and a Bravo talk show for the late audience. Three stars.

Earlier in the day, Five Star Christmas (2020) runs at 4pm, directed by Christie Will Wolf and first shown on Hallmark Channel itself. Time for Us to Come Home for Christmas (2020) at 2pm has already turned up this month, on October 20. Both are background viewing, in my book, and Five Star Christmas gets two stars.

The overnight stretch, from Christmas Next Door at midnight to Love You Like Christmas at 6am, is a DVR job. Record it, skip the rest, and keep your evening for A Dream of Christmas.
