Freeform runs a Pixar pair into primetime, and Finding Dory is the reason to stay

Freeform has built Monday evening on two Pixar films, and the schedule is smarter than it looks. Finding Nemo starts at 6:25pm ET and runs 150 minutes, so Finding Dory follows at 8:55pm ET, five minutes before the hour. Anyone who tunes in at 9pm ET has already missed the opening. Set a reminder for five to nine. Four stars for Dory, and the pick.

It is also a good fit against the competition. At 8:55pm ET the other channels are showing Live PD: Greatest Shifts on A&E, Celebrity Weakest Link on Fox, CIA on CBS and The Office on Comedy Central, and Disney Channel has Phineas and Ferb. If anyone in the house is under ten, Dory is the one thing on that list built for them. Finding Nemo before it gets four stars as well. The pair works best as a single evening, and Nemo at 6:25pm is early enough to start with dinner.

The afternoon belongs to the Princess Diaries films, with the first at 1:05pm ET and The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement at 3:45pm ET, each given 160 minutes. Julie Andrews and Héctor Elizondo are in both, and the sequel adds Anne Hathaway, Chris Pine and John Rhys-Davies. The second film is the one to pick if you are choosing, and I give it three stars: a warm afternoon watch.

Tooth Fairy at 11am ET is the weakest slot of the day. It is a 2010 comedy with Dwayne Johnson, Julie Andrews and Billy Crystal, and it is a fine film for a half-listened-to morning but not one I would plan around. Two stars.

Before all that, Boy Meets World takes the 7am to 9am block with four episodes, S03E19 to S03E22, and then shows its pilot at 10:30am. The series ran for seven seasons, so the pilot is a natural entry point for anyone curious. The 700 Club airs at 9am and again at 11pm.
