Sundance TV hands Monday night to seven hours of NCIS

Sundance TV has stopped pretending to be anything but an NCIS channel on Monday. Seven consecutive episodes run from 5pm ET, covering Season 5, episodes 9 through 15, and the 8pm ET hour, “Stakeout”, is the one to catch. It is the longest thing in primetime and the point at which the marathon has settled into its rhythm. This is a procedural that has run for 24 series and 507 episodes, and a channel can fill a whole evening with it without anyone noticing the join.

The competition at 8pm ET/PT (7pm Central) is stiff: Dancing with the Stars on ABC, FBI on CBS. Anyone who wants a case-of-the-week alternative that asks nothing of them will find it here, and the 9pm and 10pm hours keep the same pace.

Earlier in the day the channel leans on movies. Crocodile Dundee starts at 12:30pm ET and Crocodile Dundee II follows at 2:30pm, a sensible double bill for a slow afternoon. The Blues Brothers takes the morning slot at 9:30am and runs a full three hours, which is longer than most people will give a comedy. National Lampoon’s Animal House lands at 1am for the insomniacs.
