IFC turns Halloween into a Friday the 13th marathon, then ends on its best film

IFC is running slasher movies end to end on Halloween, and the best thing on the schedule comes last. Late Night with the Devil starts at 11:45pm ET and is slotted for 195 minutes, long after the marathon has done its work.

That is the pick. It is a found footage horror film directed by Cameron and Colin Cairnes, and it is the only title in the day’s lineup that isn’t part of the Jason and Freddy run. Putting it at the end of a day of sequels is the smartest scheduling choice on the channel. Four stars.

The anchor is Freddy vs. Jason, a 2003 crossover directed by Ronny Yu. It airs at 9:30pm ET and had an earlier showing at 1am, so the channel has bet twice on it. At 9:30pm it is against Pitch Perfect on Comedy Central, Hocus Pocus 2 on Freeform and The Munsters on Cozi TV. If you want the horror option, it is the obvious choice. Three stars, since the crossover is a better idea than a film.

Through the day, the channel moves from Friday the 13th, Part II at 7:15am ET to the 1980 original at 5:15pm and the 2009 film at 7:30pm. Friday the 13th airs twice today, but those are two different films, so watch the years. Jason X at 3:15am and Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday at 5:15am fill the overnight.

If you only have one evening hour for horror, spend it at 9:30pm or after 11:45pm. The afternoon is for completists.
