IFC turns Wednesday into a Tales from the Crypt marathon, and the late run is the best of it

IFC is one show from breakfast to bedtime. Tales from the Crypt fills almost every half-hour slot between 7am and midnight ET, so the question isn’t whether to tune in but where to join. Join at 9:01pm.

That’s “The Trap,” from season three, and it’s the longest thing on in primetime at 41 minutes. It’s flanked by a season six episode at 8:28pm and another at 9:42pm, but the run from 9pm is where the channel settles into a rhythm. The anthology format helps: every episode stands alone, so nobody needs to have seen the one before.

Stay up for 10:21pm and “And All Through the House,” an episode from the very first season, followed by “Television Terror” at 10:52pm. Both are about half an hour, which makes them an easy late add-on. The 10:21pm slot also faces The Addams Family on Paramount Network, the closest thing to a rival in the same spooky territory.
The overnight is where the channel gets properly lurid: The Return of the Living Dead at 1am, Night of the Living Dead (1990) at 3am and House on Haunted Hill (1999) at 5am, each two hours. All three also aired the night before, so set a recording rather than a plan to be awake.
