Showtime runs twelve movies back to back on Friday, and none of them is better than Parasite at 8pm ET/PT (7pm Central). Bong Joon-ho’s 2019 film is a black comedy, a thriller and a comedy drama at once, with Song Kang-ho, Lee Sun-kyun, Cho Yeo-jeong and Choi Woo-shik. It is two hours and fifteen minutes, and it is the longest slot in primetime. Against it sit the World Series on Fox and the usual network lineup, but nothing there is as strong a pick.

The night before Halloween also gives Showtime a horror thread, and the one to flag is It Follows at 6:15pm ET. David Robert Mitchell’s 2014 film is tagged psychological horror and supernatural fiction, and it makes a good appetizer. Scream 2 comes on at 1:55am ET, which is a late-night option for slasher completists.

V for Vendetta closes primetime at 10:15pm ET. It is a 2005 dystopian action thriller from director James McTeigue, with Natalie Portman, Stephen Rea and John Hurt. It has aired three times in the window, so it is not hard to find, and it is a notch below the 8pm film.

Earlier, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom runs at 6:15am ET and Last Crusade follows at 8:15am. Both are Steven Spielberg films, and they make a sturdy morning double bill. Rock of Ages has the most airings of the lot in the window, four, so skip it unless it is your thing.
