What’s on PBS tonight? Here is the full PBS schedule for Friday, October 30, 2026, with times in Eastern Time (ET).

PBS goes quiet at 8pm and saves its night for the music

On a Friday when Fox has the World Series at 8pm ET, PBS does not try to compete. It runs two half-hours of talk, then hands the rest of primetime to Great Performances, and the part worth staying up for is the second one: Samara Joy at Royal Albert Hall at 10:30pm ET/PT (9:30pm Central).

That is the only primetime slot where PBS tells us what is actually on. The 9pm ET/PT (8pm Central) Great Performances is listed as a 90-minute feature with no title attached, so the first of the two airings is a gamble. The second is a named concert, an hour long, and the series is on twice tonight, which means the night is built around one franchise rather than two separate ideas. It is a sensible way to fill two and a half hours, and it is the reason the schedule feels more settled than most Fridays on broadcast TV. I would not go in blind at 9pm when the 10:30pm slot has a name and a venue. Four stars for the concert, three for the unnamed slot.

The 8pm hour is the dependable part of the lineup. Washington Week with the Atlantic leads at 8pm ET/PT (7pm Central), with Firing Line with Margaret Hoover straight after at 8:30pm. Both are talk programs with long histories, and they are the sort of thing you either have in the diary or you don’t. Against a live World Series, neither is trying to be the loudest option, which is exactly why they work for the viewer who has no interest in baseball and wants something with a point of view. Three stars each: solid, unshowy, and not tonight’s reason to tune in.

Earlier, the afternoon is more interesting than it looks. Hotel Portofino, a drama, runs at 3pm, followed by We’ll Meet Again at 4pm and Weathered: After the LA Firestorm at 5pm. That is three hours of grown-up programming before Antiques Roadshow US at 6pm and the PBS News Hour at 7pm lead into the evening. If you are home before primetime, the 5pm slot is the one that deserves a look. It is an hour on the aftermath of the Los Angeles fires, and PBS is not shy about giving it a full slot.

The rest of the day belongs to the children’s block, and it has leaned into the season: Arthur’s Fright Night at 6am, Donkey Hodie’s Halloween episode at 11:30am, Work It Out Wombats! on Summerween at 11am and Molly of Denali’s Halloween Party Panic at 1:30pm. Parents planning for the weekend will find that the pre-school schedule is the most seasonal thing PBS does all day.

At the far end, the overnight is a lot of renovation. This Old House airs twice and Ask This Old House twice, with Velvet, a Spanish period drama, at 1am ET for anyone who wants it. Amanpour & Company closes the evening at 11:30pm ET.
