HGTV’s Thursday night is House Hunters International from 8pm ET/PT (7pm Central) to the end of the evening: 8pm, 8:30pm, the full hour at 9pm, then 10pm and 10:30pm. The better viewing comes before that, at 5pm ET, when season three of Renovation Aloha opens with “The Cockroach House”.

That is the pick. A season opener is the one place on this schedule where HGTV is asking you to start something rather than drop into the middle of a long-running format. Renovation Aloha then keeps the 6pm slot with the second episode of the season, so a reader who wants to see whether the show holds up can settle it in two hours.
