What’s on ABC tonight? Here is the full ABC schedule for Friday, October 30, 2026, with times in Eastern Time (ET).

ABC holds the fort on a World Series night

ABC’s Friday is a game show and a newsmagazine, and that is a deliberate choice: Fox has the World Series from 8pm ET, and ABC has built an evening for people who would rather not watch baseball. The best of it is the 8pm hour, where Celebrity Wheel of Fortune puts Steve Aoki, Connie Britton and Dulé Hill at the wheel. It is the easy pick of a two-programme night.

The 8pm hour: Celebrity Wheel of Fortune

The celebrity version of Wheel of Fortune has run for 75 episodes now, and the format has settled into something dependable. Ordinary Wheel is a quiet, almost meditative half hour of letters. Add famous contestants and the stakes drop while the entertainment value goes up, because nobody at home is rooting for a puzzle-solving streak. They are watching to see whether a musician, an actor and another actor can spot a phrase before the rest of the room does.

This is an hour-long slot, which gives the game room to breathe. It also puts the show in a crowded field. Over on CBS, Sheriff Country starts at the same time, The Office is on Comedy Central, and Fox has the baseball. Wheel’s advantage is that it asks nothing of you. You can arrive at 8:20pm and lose nothing.

I’d give it three stars and the pick. Nothing here will change your life, and it isn’t trying to.

The 9pm block: 20/20

At 9pm ET, 20/20 takes over for two hours. That is a long commitment for a newsmagazine, and it is the single biggest programme on ABC’s night. The series has been on for 38 seasons and around 500 episodes, which tells you something about its place in the schedule: it airs again a week earlier on the 23rd, so this is a weekly fixture.

ABC isn’t saying what the two hours cover, so there is nothing to promise you about the subject. What can be said is the competition. Dateline NBC starts a minute later on NBC, also for roughly two hours, and the two newsmagazines are very much aimed at the same viewer. If you are a regular on one, you already know which you prefer. Meanwhile Halloween is on AMC and Hocus Pocus 2 on FX, both of them aimed squarely at the night before Halloween weekend, which makes this a better evening than usual for anyone who wants something lighter than a two-hour documentary-style hour.

Three stars: reliably there, not an event. If the subject grabs you in the first ten minutes, stay. If not, the movies are right there.

Late night and the rest

Jimmy Kimmel Live! arrives at 11:35pm ET and runs a little over an hour, with local programming before it. Nightline is on after midnight, at 12:37am. Both are daily fixtures, so they are not news in themselves. The earlier part of the day is the usual run: Good Morning America from 7am, The View at 11am, GMA3 at 1pm and General Hospital at 2pm, all in the table below.

The short version

Watch Wheel at 8pm ET if you want something light and finished within the hour. Stay for 20/20 if you like the format. Otherwise, with baseball on Fox and a block of dramas on CBS, this is a night where ABC is happy to be the quieter option.
