Below Deck is on Bravo for most of the day, and by 8pm ET it has earned the evening. The yacht franchise starts a season-seven run at 11am ET and stacks eight episodes in a row through 7pm, then jumps to season 13 for the primetime pair: S13E03 at 7pm and S13E04 at 8pm ET (7pm Central), titled “Diva Down Bad For A Deckie”. If you have been following the current season, 8pm is the hour that counts. If you have not, the jump from season seven to season 13 inside one afternoon is a decent argument that Bravo is serving the format rather than a story.

Opposite it, Dancing with the Stars is on ABC, FBI on CBS and Holiday Baking Championship on Food Network. Below Deck is the lighter choice of the group, and the only one built to be half-watched.

The weaker link is 9pm. Still Flipping Out is on, and it is on a lot: eight times today, from 2am through five straight morning hours to 9pm and 11:30pm. A show that fills a dead morning is fine, but a late-night encore at 11:30pm is the sign that Bravo is leaning on what it has. It faces CIA on CBS and Celebrity Weakest Link on Fox, and it is the hour I would move.

Then the schedule picks up. Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen is on at 10pm ET (7pm PT), episode 178 of its 23rd season, and at 30 minutes it is short enough not to overstay. It runs straight into The Real Housewives of Potomac at 10:30pm ET, S11E04, titled “Tough Love”, a full hour of the franchise. That is Bravo’s most dependable late pairing and it is the right way to end a night.

Verdict: tune in at 8pm for Below Deck and stay for the Housewives. Everything between them is skippable.
