Heroes & Icons turns primetime into a Star Trek marathon

Heroes & Icons gives Monday night to Star Trek, and it does it in order of ambition: the original series at 8pm ET/PT (7pm Central), The Next Generation at 9pm, Deep Space Nine at 10pm, with Voyager at 11pm to close. Four hours, four series, no filler between them.

The 8pm hour is the pick. Star Trek: The Original Series ran for three series and 79 episodes, with William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy and Nichelle Nichols in the cast, and the hour here is Season 2, Episode 2. Its opposition is Dancing with the Stars on ABC and FBI on CBS, so this is counter-programming for anyone who has no interest in either.

The Next Generation follows at 9pm with a Season 7 episode, and it is the bigger commitment: seven series, 178 episodes, Patrick Stewart leading. Deep Space Nine at 10pm has a similar scale, 176 episodes over seven series, and it is the one to stay up for if the earlier two have hooked you. It goes against Shark Tank on ABC and Watch What Happens Live on Bravo.

None of this is a surprise to regular viewers. The Star Trek series are daily fixtures on the channel, as is Renegade, so a Monday spent on Star Trek is the house style rather than an event. Earlier in the day, The A-Team fills 11am to 5pm and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation runs from 5pm to 8pm.
