Blaze doubles down on Dickinson’s Real Deal

Blaze has built Friday prime time around one idea, which is people haggling over objects, and the 7pm Dickinson’s Real Deal is the only part of it worth planning around.

It gets two hours: “Huddersfield 4” at 7pm and “Wood Green 1” at 8pm, episodes 76 and 77 of series ten. The move from one location to another between the two is a small reward for staying put. It is also an easy night to dip in and out, since the show is on Blaze every day and has been on at 5am and 6am as well. Opposite it, the BBC is running The One Show and then The Celebrity Traitors, so this is a channel for the viewer who has decided to stay away from both.

At 9pm the mood changes to My Strange Arrest, two half-hours back to back: “Mr. Funk’s Wild Ride” and “Sweet Tea Pleasure”. It is on twice today and three times in the window, so there is no urgency to catch it live. It is thin competition for 999 Critical Condition and the films on other channels, and I would leave it unless nothing else appeals.

What on Earth? closes the evening at 10pm with “Riddle in the Ruins”, then “Stonehenge of the Holy Land” at 11pm. The Science Channel series has 59 episodes to date and it is on Blaze twice today, which makes this a strand rather than an occasion. It is a reasonable late hour if you are still up, and it faces BBC News at Ten and Carrie on BBC Two.

The daytime is the usual Blaze mix of pawn shops and storage auctions, with Storage Wars Texas on twice today. None of it needs a diary entry.
