Full CBBC listings for Tuesday 27 October 2026, with times in London local time.

CBBC’s day has two long items and a lot of filler between them

The one programme on CBBC today that is bigger than a snack is the film at 09:30: Pokémon the Movie: Hoopa and the Clash of Ages, a 2015 anime feature running 75 minutes, with Ikue Ōtani and Sarah Natochenny in the cast. It lands in the middle of the morning, which is a generous slot for a Tuesday morning. Everything around it runs ten to twenty-five minutes.

The evening has its own anchor at 18:05: Crookhaven, a drama and adventure series, with a 45-minute episode, “The Crooked Network”. That is the longest slot on the channel outside the film, and it has aired daily for the past eight days. It is the one place CBBC drops the cartoon format and treats its older viewers as people who can sit through a drama.

There is also a small piece of news. Shaun the Sheep opens a new series at 14:55 with “Bake it Easy”, a five-minute episode. The series has 188 episodes to date across seven series, and as a daily strand it gets a mention more for how reliably it turns up than for anything dramatic. Blue Peter does appear twice, at 14:00 and again at 18:50, though the second showing is only eight minutes.

The rest is rotation: Duck and Frog, Grizzy and the Lemmings and Gumball filling gaps, with Newsround at 07:45 as the only news. Nothing else needs planning around.

Pick: the Pokémon film, for being the only thing on the channel that is a proper event.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a film on CBBC tonight?

No. CBBC has no films in its evening schedule on Tuesday 27 October 2026.

What time does CBBC’s evening start?

The evening schedule starts with Crookhaven at 6.05pm.

Cartoons in the morning, facts in the middle, teen drama at teatime

CBBC is the BBC’s channel for older children, and it has a shape that CBeebies does not. Its mornings are fast cartoons, its mid-morning is built from factual series about history, science and the body, and its late afternoon turns to drama, sport and talent shows for older children. Newsround runs through the middle of it all as the one fixed point: on every one of the 34 days we tracked, at 7.45am.

The channel launched in 2002. Like most children’s channels it repeats heavily, with 99% of its airtime going to titles that came back on three or more days, but it runs a wider range than its pre-school sister, with about 50 programmes on a typical day.

What a CBBC day looks like

CBBC broadcasts from 7am to 7pm, sharing its broadcast space with BBC Three, which takes over in the evening.

Breakfast, 7am to 9am. The opening two hours are animation at speed. Shaun the Sheep usually starts the day at 7am, Danger Mouse follows at about 7.10am and Super Happy Magic Forest at 7.20am. Boy Girl Dog Cat Mouse Cheese sits around 7.35am, then Newsround at 7.45am, the only programme on the channel that kept an identical slot on every day. After it come Grizzy and the Lemmings, SpongeBob SquarePants, Duck and Frog and Odd Squad, all before 9am. Duck and Frog is the most-aired title on CBBC by a distance: 153 showings in 34 days, four or five a day.

Mid-morning, 9am to noon. This is the factual block, and it is the most distinctive part of the day. Horrible Histories at about 9.25am on 31 days, Horrible Science at 9.55am, Operation Ouch! at 10.20am and Go Get Arty at 10.50am. Shark Bites and Prince Ivandoe appear just before 9am on their days.

Afternoon, noon to 5pm. Our School at around 12.10pm and Gym Stars at 12.30pm, then Dennis & Gnasher Unleashed! in the early afternoon. Winx Club: The Magic Is Back takes 2pm on about half the days, with Deadly 60 or Pokémon Horizons: The Series at 2.25pm and Nine Minute Ninja at 2.45pm. Later, Submarine Jim, The Amazing World of Gumball, Teen Titans Go! and Scooby-Doo and Guess Who? fill the hour before 5pm.

Teatime, 5pm to 7pm. The schedule ages up. Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir sits at about 5.15pm, The Football Academy at 5.40pm on 22 days, Stage Stars at 6pm and The Next Step: Cheer, a drama series, at about 6.30pm on 31 days. What’s New Scooby-Doo? and similar cartoons close out the day.

CBBC shows very few films, about one every two weeks. The three we recorded were all Pokémon films, each in a late-afternoon slot around 4.15pm.

Popular shows on CBBC

Newsround is a news bulletin made for children and the anchor of the CBBC morning. It aired daily at 7.45am without exception across the five weeks we tracked.

Horrible Histories is a British sketch comedy series about history, first shown in 2009, with seven series and 100 episodes. It held its mid-morning slot on 31 of the 34 days.

Operation Ouch! is a children’s science series that began in 2012 and has run to six series. It sits at about 10.20am most days.

Duck and Frog is a new British animated series, first shown in 2026, with 25 episodes in its first series. It is shown more often than anything else on the channel.

Super Happy Magic Forest is a British animated comedy fantasy series from 2024, with a voice cast that includes Julian Barratt, Oliver Chris and Greg McHugh. It airs in the early morning, often twice.

Deadly 60 is a British animal series that began in 2009. On CBBC it turns up on about two days in three, usually in the afternoon.

CBBC and its sister channels

CBBC is one of the BBC’s channels, alongside BBC One, BBC Two, BBC Three, BBC Four, CBeebies, BBC News, BBC Parliament, BBC Scotland and BBC Alba.

CBeebies is the pre-school channel, with shorter programmes and an even tighter rotation built around titles like Bluey and Hey Duggee. BBC Two gives much of its weekend daytime to children’s programmes. BBC One and BBC Four are adult channels. BBC Three, which shares CBBC’s broadcast space in the evening, is not covered here, nor are BBC News, BBC Parliament, BBC Scotland and BBC Alba.

Outside the BBC, none of the channels we cover is a close match for CBBC’s age group. Channel 5 runs a long morning of children’s programmes, but they are aimed at pre-school viewers, closer to CBeebies.

Who it’s for

CBBC is for children who have outgrown CBeebies. The mornings suit younger viewers who want cartoons before school, and the factual block is the best of it, with Horrible Histories and Operation Ouch! the kind of programmes parents do not mind leaving on. The teatime drama and talent shows are pitched at older children. Anyone under five will be happier on CBeebies.

What channel is CBBC on Freeview?

CBBC is Freeview channel 201, and 203 in HD.

What time is Newsround on CBBC?

Newsround aired at 7.45am every day in the period we measured.

What time does CBBC start and finish?

CBBC is on air from 7am to 7pm. BBC Three uses the same space in the evening.
