Full Yesterday listings for Friday 30 October 2026, with times in London local time.

Yesterday has one proper hour tonight, then a double helping of canal boats

The Tropic of Capricorn with Simon Reeve at 7pm is the reason to switch on. It is the longest programme of the evening at an hour, it has only been on for three days in this window, and it is the one thing on the channel that is not a fixture of the daily rota. It goes up against The One Show, Grand Designs and NCIS, so it will mostly be a choice for people who already know they want Reeve. Four stars.

What follows is more of a commitment than a recommendation. Canal Boat Diaries is on at 8pm and again at 9pm, back to back, and it has turned up on six days in the past fortnight. It is a 2019 series, and that is about all there is to say about it. Two hours of the same programme in the middle of primetime tells you how Yesterday treats Friday: as a night to fill rather than to programme. If you like it, you get twice as much. If you do not, 8pm and 9pm are the two hours to be elsewhere, and The Celebrity Traitors, Gardeners’ World and Egypt with Dan Snow are all starting around the same time. Two stars.

Bangers & Cash closes primetime at 10pm and is again at 11pm. It is one of the channel’s daily strands, which is why it turns up so often: at midnight, 8am, 9am, 2pm and 3pm as well. A three-star rating reflects reliability, not surprise. It faces BBC News at Ten and A&E After Dark at 10, so it is the easy option for anyone who has had enough of both.

Daytime

The daytime is Antiques Roadshow three times, at noon, 1pm and 6pm, and War Factories at 11am and 5pm. Could Hitler Have Been Stopped? The Politics Of Appeasment is on at 10am and 4pm for anyone who wants history in the gaps; the title is spelt that way in the schedule. Find It, Fix It, Flog It gets a 1am slot, and Great Continental Railway Journeys fills the early hours and the breakfast block.
