Full Talking Pictures TV listings for Wednesday 28 October 2026, with times in London local time.

Talking Pictures builds an evening towards The Boston Strangler

Talking Pictures spends three hours warming up for one film, and The Boston Strangler at 9.05pm is worth the wait. The 1968 picture was directed by Richard Fleischer and stars Tony Curtis and Henry Fonda, with George Kennedy in support. It runs 140 minutes, and the channel also showed it on the 25th, so it is clearly a favourite of the schedulers. Four stars, and the pick.

The lead-in is unhurried. Out of Town at seven, with Bee Skeps and Flooded River Fishing, is a half-hour countryside documentary. Dick Turpin follows at 7.30, the 1979 to 1982 ITV adventure with Richard O’Sullivan, and then Van der Valk at 8.05, a crime drama from ITV that has run to 32 episodes over five series. A Dangerous Point of View is episode 4 of series 2. Three stars: a decent warm-up before the main event.

The other schedule highlight is earlier. Rooms begins at 6pm with Jan and Tony: Part 1, a drama series opener, with part 2 at 6.30. The channel runs the pair back to back, so one sitting gets you both.
