Really spends Friday prime time on auctions, then feet

Really’s Friday is a two-hour trade in antiques followed by two hours of podiatry, and the first half is far the better bet. Antiques Road Trip at 8pm is the one to settle on.

The Yorkshire Auction House opens the evening at 7pm with “He Shoots, He Scores”, episode 19 of its fifth series. It is a steady, low-stakes way to start, and it has already been on this channel at noon and 1pm in other episodes, so Really clearly trusts the format to carry a day. Against it sit The One Show and NCIS, which is a fair fight for anyone who wants something gentler than either.

Antiques Road Trip follows at 8pm with Natasha Raskin Sharp and Raj Bisram on Day 5 of their trip, episode 25 of series 20. The programme has been on this channel on ten days in the window, which tells you how much Really leans on it. It is up against The Celebrity Traitors on BBC One, so anyone who has to pick will already know which side they’re on. For everyone else, it is the strongest hour Really has.

After that the night turns. My Feet Are Killing Me, a TLC series that has run to two series and twenty episodes, takes both the 9pm and 10pm slots, with “Trouble With Toes” and then “Alligator Feet”. Two hours of one idea is a big ask, and this is not a series I would give a whole evening to. Its rivals are not much easier on the stomach, with 999 Critical Condition and 24 Hours in A&E on at the same time, so it is a choice between medical shows for much of the night.

Earlier in the evening, Long Lost Family starts at 5pm with the first episode of its eighth series. It has aired on eleven days in the window, so it is a staple of the channel rather than an event, though it is worth knowing about if you want something warmer before the auction run begins.

Late on, Help! My House is Haunted returns at 11pm with “The Demon of Donegal”.
