It is October 28th and Great Romance has already committed to the season: of tonight’s 36 slots, 20 are films, and almost every one of them has Christmas in the title. If that is what you want, the evening is yours. If not, there is little else here.

The pick is Christmas at the Plaza, a 2019 film directed by Ron Oliver, with Elizabeth Henstridge, Ryan Paevey and Bruce Davison. It was made for Hallmark Channel, and it is split across two slots, the first half at 6:05pm and the second at 7:05pm. Start at 6:05pm if you can, as it is the only way to see it whole. It is the most dependable name in the line-up, and it goes unopposed by anything cosy: NCIS and Police Interceptors fill the other channels.

Christmas in Vienna follows at 8pm and again at 9pm, a 2020 film with Sarah Drew and Brennan Elliott. Three stars, same as the Plaza. At 9:55pm Looks Like Christmas, from 2016, closes the evening, with Anne Heche and Dylan Neal in the cast.

Most of these films are cut in two halves with a short news item between. Expect that rhythm all night.
