Kiss of the Dragon is the only reason to be here after nine

GREAT! action spends its Friday evening on Burn Notice, then hands the 9pm slot to a proper action film. Kiss of the Dragon, a 2001 thriller and martial arts picture directed by Chris Nahon, stars Jet Li and Bridget Fonda, with Tchéky Karyo and Cyril Raffaelli in support. It is the one title tonight that was made to be watched in a single sitting, and it gets cut in half anyway: a five-minute This Week Back Then slips in at 21:56, and the second part picks up at 22:01. Expect to sit through that gap.

The opposition is thin. E4 has M3GAN at nine and 5action runs For a Few Dollars More, so for martial arts on a Friday night, this is the one.

Burn Notice fills the two hours before it, with Friends Like These at 7pm and Long Way Back at 8pm. Both episodes also ran at 2pm and 3pm, and the series has been on this channel every day for ten days running. It is steady, dependable filler for the hour when the other channels bring out NCIS and The Celebrity Traitors. Good company, not an event.

The late slot is The Unit again at 11pm, the same episode as 6pm. If you missed it earlier, you get a second go.
