Legend’s Sunday is a long Western afternoon that hands over to an action night, and the one fixed point worth planning around is The Last Stand at 9pm.

That is a 2013 film with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Forest Whitaker, directed by Kim Ji-woon, running 130 minutes. It is solid Sunday-night fare and the only one of the evening’s films with a big name on top. Nowhere to Run, with Jean-Claude Van Damme, follows at 11.10pm if you have the stamina.

The better television comes just before it. The Twilight Zone starts series five at 8pm with two half-hours, In Praise of Pip and Steel, and it is the sharpest thing on the channel all day. Rod Serling’s anthology is a 1959 to 1964 series and still the benchmark for the form. It repeats within the day, so there is no pressure to catch the first showing.

If you would rather have the afternoon, McLintock! at noon is the one with the cast: John Wayne and Maureen O’Hara. Law of the Lawless, Buckskin and Texas Rangers follow in sequence until the evening.
