Great Movies is a crime-drama night with Castle in front

Great Movies has the best crime-drama hour of its Thursday at 7pm: Castle, with the Last Action Hero episode from series seven. The show ran from 2009 to 2016 on ABC, eight series and 173 episodes, with Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic leading. It is the lightest hour of the night, with crime drama and comedy listed together.

That is what follows. Unforgettable at 8pm (Poppy Montgomery, Dylan Walsh, Jane Curtin) and In Plain Sight at 9pm make a straight run of American crime dramas, one after another. Neither is going to dislodge The Celebrity Traitors on BBC One at 8pm, or Celebrity Traitors: Uncloaked at 9pm, but both are comfortable alternatives if that isn’t on your list.

The other item worth knowing about is Nikki & Nora: Sister Sleuths, a 2022 mystery with Hunter King and Rhiannon Fish, shown in two parts at 10pm and 11.01pm. It is a series opener, so it is a late-evening commitment of nearly two hours. Family History Mysteries: Buried Past closes at 11.55pm.

Daytime is Murder, She Wrote and Diagnosis Murder in hour-long blocks, plus Teleshopping overnight and at breakfast. A night to settle in with, then.
